Transfer Rumors: Real Madrid Eyeing Two World-Class Players During 2022 Summer Window
KEY POINTS
- Real Madrid is going all in for the 2022 summer transfer window by targeting Haaland and Mbappe
- Paris Saint-Germain received a massive bid for Mbappe but decided not to respond to the offer
- Despite losing Ronaldo, Real Madrid was able to win the La Liga title once in the past three years
In one of the best transfer windows in recent memory, Real Madrid got themselves a piece of the action as well by signing Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennes.
However, it is believed that the club is more than ready for the 2022 summer transfer window.
Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid is keen on signing who is widely believed to be the “most talented forward of his generation” in Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe next summer.
Mbappe has been linked to a move to his childhood club through much of the transfer window, and Real Madrid decided to act on it in the latter part in hopes of pressuring Paris Saint-Germain to sell.
However, the French giants were not interested in any transfer talks for Mbappe and opted to shun the massive €200 million ($235 million) offer that Real Madrid put out.
Marca also reports that the La Liga giants are positioning themselves for the double swoop after missing out on Mbappe this summer.
Mbappe has one year left on his current deal with Paris Saint-Germain, and if he decides not to sign an extension, Real Madrid is planning to swoop in on a free transfer.
As for Haaland, he has a release clause worth £64 million ($88.3 million) that is set to kick in next summer.
Los Blancos will need to come to terms with his agent Mino Raiola as soon as possible as it has been reported that English Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on the young forward.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti could not get either Haaland or Mbappe, but they were able to get Camavinga.
The 18-year-old is set to be featured heavily on the Real Madrid first-team alongside midfield mentors Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, who is currently out due to a groin injury.
Real Madrid has performed exceptionally well despite losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus during the 2018 transfer window, with a La Liga title and a runner-up finish in the past three seasons.
Adding Mbappe and Haaland to the first-team, along with Barcelona’s current financial struggles, will ensure that Real Madrid’s hold on La Liga will last through much of the current decade.
