Transfer Rumors: Struggling Arsenal Center-Back Urged To Look For New Home
KEY POINTS
- Pablo Mari is likely to be dealt by Arsenal if inquiries come their way this January
- Mari has hardly played quality minutes on the field with Arsenal
- His weekly wage is proving to be a problem in finding him a team to play for
Pablo Mari will likely be one of the players from Arsenal who will look for a new home in the January transfer window.
The Spaniard has hardly gotten anything going with the Gunners, and his future with the team is not looking so bright.
The 28-year-old center-back did start for Arsenal's two opening English Premier League games.
However, the tide has changed since then with Mari hardly being featured by Mikel Arteta after the international break.
Further pushing Mari back to the rotation is the fine play of Benjamin White and Gabriel Magalhaes.
So unless a sudden opportunity comes with the Spaniard unveiling a magnificent performance happens, the Spanish footballer is likely better off moving to a new team, Football London reported.
One team that could make sense for Mari is Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, a team where Mari was loaned from 2019 to 2020.
Ironically, the Urubu was keen on re-signing him after the loan spell. The only problem is that Flamengo found the £85,000 (($113,000)-a-week wage too expensive, BBC reported.
It will likely be the same for any other team who would look into the possibility of taking in the center-back in the January transfer window.
Arsenal is expected to be open to offers from other clubs on Mari. As of this writing, no team has been linked to the Spanish footballer.
From their end, the Gunners are unlikely to lose sleep on the situation of Mari with Arteta banking on other talents to show up for Arsenal.
This would place Mari in a spot, someone who previously displayed promise but lacked consistency.
