  • Tottenham ramps up its chase for Yves Bissouma ahead of the transfer deadline
  • Brighton wants $55 million for Bissouma
  • Arsenal may pass up the chance on Bissouma

Tottenham could be a team to watch in the next 24 hours--with reports that the Hotspurs have taken the lead in the chase for Yves Bissouma of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Bissouma has been linked to a potential move out of Falmer Stadium, and something could transpire before the transfer window officially closes on Tuesday, August 31.

At least three teams have been linked to the 24-year-old midfielder. Aside from Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on the Mallan’s situation.

However, the level of interest by these clubs may be altered because of the Seagulls' asking price.

Brighton values Bissouma at £40 million ($55 million), a price that may be too stiff to pay for the Spurs and other teams in pursuit.

Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly a big fan of the midfielder, something that could sway the favor to Tottenham’s way.

A possible scenario is a negotiation of the fee Brighton is asking.

But with the Seagulls reluctant to deal away one of their big stars, the asking price is likely to stay.

Time is not on the side of the Spurs, yet another consideration that could hinder their transfer pursuit.

Keeping Brighton at Falmer Stadium is understandable. He is off to a good start for Brighton this 2021-22 season, leading the Seagulls to two wins in three games under the English Premier League.

Aside from Tottenham, another team that is interested in Bissouma is said to be Arsenal.

Arsenal was already on the hunt for Bissouma as early as January, and some Gunners fans see him as a perfect complement to Thomas Partey.

But right now, that chase for Bissouma has hardly gained ground with Mikel Arteta believed to be focusing on his current crop of midfielders.

But with a lack of goal contributions from Arsenal players, a sudden change in focus is not discounted.
