KEY POINTS

  • West Ham United adds Paul Onuachu to its list of striker prospects
  • Roman Yaremchuk may make more sense for the Hammers
  • West Ham United needs to decide fast with Onuachu

West Ham United continues to look for strikers to reinforce their team, and Paul Onuachu is the latest name to be added.

The Genk forward is a name to watch this summer, someone David Moyes could use to join Michail Antonio this summer.

The interest in Onuachu hardly comes as a surprise. After racking 35 goals in 41 games for KRC last season, the Nigerian would be a valuable addition if the Hammers can close some kind of a deal.

In his career, the 27-year-old has been phenomenal. To date, Onuachu has amassed 124 goals in 263 games.

However, West Ham needs to also consider that acquiring the 6-foot-7 forward would require a hefty fee. Genk may ask roughly around £25 million ($35.29 million) this summer, All Nigerian Soccer reported.

The Hammers need to figure out fast if they are bent on acquiring the Nigerian footballer.

With the impressive performance that he has been churning, other teams are also closely monitoring Onuachu’s status.

Aside from West Ham, another team linked to Onuachu is AC Milan. I Rossoneri are pondering on the possibility of adding Onuachu to provide Zlatan Ibrahimovic some friendly competition.

It all boils down to whether West Ham would be willing to fork out the huge fee for the Nigerian striker.

Critics feel that the Hammers may think twice, considering Onuachu is someone who remains unproven in the English Premier League.

The Hammers could negotiate for a lower fee of about £15 million ($21.8 million), but this may depend on what other teams will have to offer.

If AC Milan or some other club would adhere to the speculated price tag, West Ham may have to cross out Onuachu from their list.

Other than Onuachu, the Hammers also have Roman Yaremchuk on their wish list.

After scoring 23 goals last season, Yaremchuk has been performing well on the international stage. That included a header against the Netherlands on Sunday.

But like Onuachu, Yaremchuk is also linked to several teams. That list includes Arsenal, Wolverhampton, Sevilla and Bayer Leverkusen.

A suggested £17 million ($24 million) fee, something near to what the Hammers could bargain for Onuachu may seal the deal.
