‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Update: Michael Bay Unveils New Bumblebee Design, Hollywood Veteran Joins Movie
“Transformers: The Last Knight” showrunner Michael Bay has unveiled a custom-built new look for the iconic robot character, Bumblebee. The filmmaker has also announced a Hollywood veteran who has signed on as one of the movie’s cast members.
Bay recently took to social media to share “Transformers 5” updates that featured the fan favorite Autobot Bumblebee, as well as latest casting news. In a Twitter message posted Sunday, the filmmaker uploaded an image of the new Bumblebee design for the upcoming film. He captioned it, “Bee is back! @generalmotors really got it done with this custom-built 2016 Camaro. #transformers.”
The “Transformers: The Last Knight” showrunner’s Twitter post has also confirmed the third robot character that moviegoers will see in the film. Bay has previously used his social media accounts to released images of the Autobot leader Optimus Prime, as well as the Decepticon villain Megatron. However, Bay has used the two characters' robot faces in his previous social media posts. For Bumblebee, he shared an image of the said robot in its car form.
Bay’s Bumblebee Twitter image showcased the said Autobot’s updated look as a 2016 Chevy Camaro. Avid fans of the movie franchise and car lovers may notice that the new design features a sleeker look, as compared to the previous car models used in the four “Transformers” films. However, it is still not clear if Bumblebee’s robot design will also get a facelift, similar to the character’s updated Chevy Camaro look.

Apart from Bumblebee’s new design, Bay also took to Twitter to announce casting news for “Transformers 5.” He revealed Saturday that Hollywood legend Anthony Hopkins has joined the movie. The showrunner even described the actor as a “myth” and “legend” in his Twitter post before welcoming Hopkins to the “Transformers” universe.
Hopkins joins other confirmed cast members such as Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael. Josh Duhamel and Mark Wahlberg will also return to the movie franchise. “Transformers: The Last Knight” is expected to hit movie theaters on June 23, 2017.
