Tropical Storm Henri is expected to continue battering the Northeast this week with flood watches in effect in several states on Monday.

Tropical Storm Henri is slowly moving west through Connecticut and could make way to New York state and the upper Hudson Valley after making landfall in Rhode Island Sunday, which spared a direct hit on Long Island.

Trees and wires were reportedly down in parts of Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The storm left over 140,000 homes without power along the coast from New Jersey up to Main, the New York Times reported.

Now weakened to a tropical depression, the slow-moving storm under 10mph still brought in wind gusts of up to 70mph. On Monday, prolonged rain is expected that could lead to flash floods in parts of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire.

The storm could still bring heavy rainfall and flooding to the Northeast and New England. It is expected to turn east and head out to the Atlantic Ocean on Monday night.

Rain and thunderstorm forced organizers to cancel a Central Park concert that celebrates the Big Apple's comeback from COVID-19 midway through the show.

Concertgoers of the "We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert" missed out on performances of artists including Paul Simon and Bruce Springsteen that have been set before the scheduled 10 p.m. end of the show.

During the hour from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., Central Park broke the maximum daily amount of rainfall with 4.45 inches, dubbed as "the wettest hour on record" for New York City, the National Weather Service tweeted.

Before the storm's arrival, a state of emergency had been declared for parts of New York after Henri was declared a hurricane.

President Joe Biden also approved the emergency declaration for Connecticut and New York in a White House statement.

Biden also promised to provide federal help to the affected residents of the state.
