Weeks after parts of the U.S. were embroiled in racial conflict, recent right-leaning polls show President Trump's job approval ratings continuing to lag. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic may also play a role in his weak numbers, as cases have spiked dramatically in crucial election states Florida and Texas.

According to surveys last week from Rasmussen Reports and Fox News, Trump has a significantly higher disapproval rating than approval rating. Rasmussen's poll showed Trump with a 45% approval rating and a 53% disapproval rating. Fox News showed similar results, with Trump having a 45% approval rating and a 54% disapproval rating.

In mid-May, Rasmussen Reports showed Trump with a 49% approval rating and a 50% disapproval rating. However, Fox News showed similar results from mid-June, when its polls indicated Trump had 44% approval and 55% disapproval.

Trump has previously slammed Fox News polling. After the June poll showed him trailing presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden by 12 points, Trump called the poll "phony" and said it was created by “haters."

Trump fares much worse in polls that don't lean right. A poll last week from ABC News/Washington Post showed Trump with just a 40% approval rating and a 58% disapproval rating. A recent Quinnipiac Poll showed Trump with a 36% approval rating and a 60% disapproval rating.

Biden has led Trump by wide margins in recent general election surveys. The Fox News poll shows Biden at 49% support in the general election, with Trump at 41% support. The ABC News/ Washington Post survey shows Biden at 54% support, with Trump at 44%.
