Trump To Be Reinstated Before 2022? Growing Number Of Republicans Believe So
KEY POINTS
- Only 22% of Republicans believe Trump would be reinstated in an October poll
- 8% of Democrats said Trump's reinstatement will likely happen this year
- Trump previously teased a reinstatement due to 'tremendous voter fraud'
A growing number of Republicans believe Donald Trump will be reinstated as the president of the United States before the start of 2022, a new poll showed.
According to a November Economist/YouGov poll, 28% of Republican voters surveyed between Nov. 6 and 9 said it is likely that Trump would be reinstated before the end of the year -- 13% said reinstatement is “very likely” and 15% said it is “somewhat likely.”
In comparison, only 22% of Republicans said the former president would likely be reinstated by 2022 in the October survey.
Along party lines, only 8% of Democrats and 12% of Independent voters said Trump’s reinstatement is likely.
The results of the Economist/YouGov poll, which surveyed 1,500 Americans, come after the former president and some of his allies continue to suggest that he could be reinstated as president over the “tremendous voter fraud” that happened during the 2020 elections.
“There's been tremendous voter fraud. And it's being revealed on a daily basis and we'll see what happens,” Trump told Real America’s Voice host Gina Loudon during a rally in Georgia in September.
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a noted Trump ally and conspiracy theorist of the 2020 elections, has also previously floated Aug. 13 as the day Trump and several GOP senators who lost during the election would be reinstated.
"The morning of August 13 it'll be the talk of the world, going, 'Hurry up! Let's get this election pulled down, let's right the right, let's get these communists out, you know, that have taken over,'" he claimed.
While the reinstatement has not happened, Trump has repeatedly teased his plans to run for the presidency again in 2024. However, he has stopped short of making an official announcement and has instead hinted that “a lot of people” will be happy with his decision.
"I think a lot of people will be very happy, frankly, with the decision, and probably will announce that after the midterms,” he said, noting that he will likely announce his decision after the 2022 midterms.
Trump has also yet to indicate who he plans to select as his running mate should he make a 2024 bid.
