Trump iPhone: Gold-Plated iPhone 7 With Donald Trump’s Face Costs Less Than Putin iPhone
Banking on Donald Trump’s controversial win, Caviar just launched a gold-plated Trump iPhone as part of the luxury brand’s Supremo collection. This puts Trump among the “great men” the collection celebrates, like Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev.
According to Business Insider, the Trump iPhone is basically an iPhone 7 that’s been outfitted with a gold plate on its back. As part of the luxury smartphone’s design, Trump’s portrait is etched on the upper half of the phone, and the president-elect’s full name, “Donald John Trump,” encircles his portrait.
The Russian-Italian luxury brand did not forget to include Trump’s tagline “Make America Great Again,” as this could be seen etched just below the large “TRUMP” branding near the bottom of the device. Another design element that memorializes Trump’s great achievement of becoming the 45th president of the United States is the country’s coat of arms that is placed at the middle of the golden slab masking the back of the handset.
PhoneArena claims the Trump iPhone could do well among oil oligarchs, adding that the expensive device comes from the same company that makes the gold-plated Putin iPhones. However, Caviar may have a different goal in launching the Trump Phone. Speaking with Lenta, the company said, “We will do everything possible to bring the phone to Mr. Trump.” Thus, it’s clear that the company did not only make the luxury version of the iPhone 7 for Trump’s elite supporters, but also for the businessman-turned-president himself.
For interested buyers, the Trump iPhone costs 197,000 rubles or U.S. $3,040. Believe it or not, the price is actually more affordable than the top-tier Putin iPhone, which sells for 247,000 rubles or U.S. 3,766. The Trump iPhone is also less expensive than the Aliev iPhone that memorializes Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev. The latter costs 253,000 rubles or U.S. $3,857.
For the company, the special edition iPhones express patriotism. It also has its reasons for choosing the world leaders to be featured in its Supremo collection. Speaking of why it chose Putin to be the face of eight of its luxury iPhones, Caviar said: “President Vladimir Putin has become a symbol of the new generation, strong-willed and a decisive leader. Caviar jewelers chose him as among the most important figures of our time.”
