Trump Nation, Whites Only: 20 Horrific Acts Of Violence Against Minorities In President-Elect's First Week

Donald Trump’s first day as president-elect spurred racism and vitriol across America, and the entirety of the worldwide web. A week later, assaults and intimidation against minorities have only worsened, despite the real estate billionaire demanding his supporters put an immediate end to the violence.

"I am so saddened to hear that," Trump said Sunday in an interview on "60 Minutes" in which CBS’ Leslie Stahl apparently informed the next president of the rise in hate crimes after his Election Day victory. "And I say, 'Stop it.' If it -- if it helps, I will say this, and I will say right to the cameras: 'Stop it.'"

For minorities across the United States, the effects of Trump's support from the alt-right and white nationalists has been felt in real-time. Hate crimes across the United States increased by six percent since last year, according to a comprehensive review the F.B.I. released Monday. The biggest surge in hate crimes impacted Muslim Americans, who saw a 67 percent rise in reported crimes since 2014. At least 5,818 hate crimes were reported in 2015 alone, with 257 reported crimes against Muslims. Most recently, at least 300 acts of intimidation or harassment have been reported since Election Day, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. Below are just 20 horrific acts of violence and intimidation carried out against minorities in the days since Trump's victory.

1. "Make America White Again" vandalism was found on a public recreation site in New York:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered an immediate investigation into the graffiti, which included a swastika symbol.

2. A Muslim high school student in Virginia was targeted for her appearance:

"I've been a victim of racism since the 9/11 attacks, but I can honestly say that since Trump started his campaign, I've encountered discrimination at a much larger rate," Numa Rehmani, who was born in Pakistan, told International Business Times. " The alarming number of his voters that support him for racist, sexist, xenophobic, and homophobic reasons, still needs to be addressed. I believe that we can fight hate with overwhelming amounts of love and compassion. Violence will never be the answer, so we have to channel our anger and frustration towards something that spreads the power of love."

3. Racist, pro-Trump graffiti was painted on a high school bathroom in Minnesota:

Maple Grove Senior high school’s bathroom displayed vandalism demanding minorities "Go back to Africa" with hashtags including #WhitesOnly and #WhiteAmerica.

Crews were forced to remove vandalism near sidewalks in North Carolina the Thursday after the presidential election that read: "Black Lives don’t matter and neither does your votes."

The students began shouting "build that wall!" toward minority-students during a lunch period at a middle school.

6. A Trump supporter vandalized a car parked in a driveway with racist vitriol in Tennessee:

The victim posted a video on Twitter showing his car’s front windshield with the word "n-----" written in graffiti along with "TRUMP."

7. White students chanted racist, anti-Semitic cries during school hours in Pennsylvania:

New York Daily News' Shaun King reported a group of white students began the chant "Cotton Picker, You're a N------, Heil Hitler."

8. A Muslim woman was physically assaulted in New York City:

A passenger attempted to remove the woman’s hijab while shouting she "take that disgusting piece of cloth off."

9. A Muslim prayer room at New York University was vandalized by Trump supporters immediately after the election:

Though the graffiti found on the entrance of the religious service room in NYU only read "TRUMP!" the signage was seen as intimidation by Muslims across the college campus.

"Unless Donald Trump takes extreme and considerable measures to curb the Islamophobia he inflamed, I don't think the rate of anti-Muslim violence and hate crimes will dwindle down anytime soon," Sarah A. Harvard, whose friend had a knife pulled on her on her way to school, told IBT.
