Two recent polls show President Trump’s approval ratings have taken a tumble, as the coronavirus continues to spread across the United States.

The latest right-leaning Rasmussen Reports survey shows 56% disapproval of Trump and 43% approval. The same survey conducted at the beginning of March had shown Trump with 48% approval and 50% disapproval.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Trump with 55% disapproval and 42% approval. The same survey conducted at the end of March indicated 52% disapproval and 46% approval.

Trump has held daily briefings on the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and has extended his administration’s social distancing guidelines through the month of April. When cases subside in the U.S., Trump has to determine when the country should reopen its economy. He called the decision the hardest of his life.

The general election is less than seven months away and with Sen. Bernie Sanders dropping out of the race, former Vice President Joe Biden is set to go head-to-head with Trump. There is expected to be weaker support for third-party candidates after the Libertarian and Green parties combined for 4.35% of the vote in 2016.

A CNN poll released Thursday showed Biden leading Trump 53% to 42% among registered voters. The majority of respondents in the survey believed that Biden is more trustworthy on issues such as the coronavirus, healthcare and helping the middle class.

The U.S. currently has more cases of coronavirus than any other country in the world. As of Sunday at 2:10 p.m. ET, the U.S. has 532,339 cases of coronavirus and 21,489 deaths.
