Truth About Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie’s 'Secret Getaway' To Work Out Divorce
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fans may still be holding out hope that the two would later reconcile and call off their divorce, but there seems to be no chance of that happening anytime soon. The latest rumor about the estranged couple claimed that Jolie and Pitt will be going on a "secret" vacation to settle their divorce, but this has now been debunked.
Radar Online recently put out a story claiming that Jolie and Pitt are having a hard time agreeing on the terms of their divorce and the custody agreement over their six children: Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 10. According to the site, Jolie and Pitt reportedly plan to solve this by going on a secret getaway together as a "change in scenery" would apparently help them settle their differences and really talk to each.
A so-called source claimed in the report that Jolie and Pitt are hoping to "hash things out" at a “relaxed setting outside of L.A.” during a “long weekend" after spending a “fortune in legal fees."
The report further claimed that the estranged spouses will bring along their attorneys for the trip and that Jolie and Pitt plan to sleep in "separate rooms."
But there is absolutely no truth to these claims. Gossip Cop confirmed with sources in Jolie's and Pitt's camps that the report is a fabrication. The rumor-debunking outlet added that the Hollywood stars' reps seemed to hint that their divorce will soon be finalized.
The outlet also pointed out one major inconsistency within Radar Online's report, which is the couple reportedly bringing along legal representation despite dropping a "fortune in legal fees." But if this actually happened, their lawyers would be billing them for every single minute they spend on this supposed getaway, and this would cost Jolie and Pitt much more than if they would have just met at an attorney's office.
If Gossip Cop's source is right on the money, Jolie and Pitt could be on the last leg of their divorce and custody negotiations. The estranged couple, who were together for 12 years before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, met face-to-face at a lawyer's office in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles on Jan. 30.
At the time, sources told Us Weekly that the divorce proceedings seemed to be going smoothly, further supporting the notion that an end may be in sight for Jolie and Pitt's almost three-year divorce and custody battle.
“They’ve had other meetings in person; this is not the first,” the insider said. “This is part of their ongoing process to work through things regarding the kids and the divorce.”
“They have established a foundation … that is enabling the process to move forward in a much more thoughtful and peaceful manner,” a second source said.
Meanwhile, Jolie is currently enjoying some family bonding time with their children in New York City. Earlier this week, the Oscar-winning actress took all six of their kids to the special early screening of "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" at the Crosby Street Hotel, Entertainment Weekly reported.
