Truth About Jennifer Garner's Involvement In Ben Affleck, Lindsay Shookus Split

Jennifer Garner did not convince Ben Affleck to dump Lindsay Shookus, despite rumors. Gossip Cop debunked reports stating that Garner was behind her estranged husband’s breakup with Shookus but was okay with him dating Playboy model Shauna Sexton.

According to the Globe, Garner “couldn’t stand” Shookus because she “hooked up with Ben” while they were supposedly still trying to save their marriage.

“Jen viewed Lindsay as a homewrecker, and she was never going to let that go,” the magazine reported a source saying. “She also believed Lindsay was leading Ben down the wrong path when he was trying to stay sober,” the source continued.

“Ben appreciates Jen’s opinion, and when she said Lindsay wasn’t right for him, Ben listened. Jen said he should date other people and he agreed. So he ended things with Lindsay,” the source said.

About rumors of Affleck dating Sexton, the source said, “Jen may not be thrilled Ben’s dating a Playboy pinup, but she doesn’t see Shauna as a threat.”

The article, however, did not acknowledge the fact that Affleck is currently in rehab and not out and about with Sexton. According to reports, though Affleck has broken up with Shookus, Garner is not the reason behind the split. Affleck and Shookus broke up due to his struggles with addiction.

“Lindsay had been supporting Ben’s sobriety and going to meetings with him. She had him in meditation and they were doing it together. His recovery was something that was very important to both of them,” a source told People. “It was very hard for her to break up with Ben, but she knew he wasn’t getting better and that it was time for her to step aside. She was trying to stay as close to him as possible so that he would stay on the right path, but ultimately it just wasn’t possible. She knew she had to let him hit bottom."

Affleck was spotted with Sexton in August amid his split with Shookus. Sexton hit back at a fan’s suggestion that she contributed to Affleck’s return to rehab Sunday.

“Ben makes his own decisions. Blaming a 22 year old for someone’s 3rd time in rehab is just ridiculous. He is human. I am human. You are human. We all are going to f–-- up it’s just a matter of learning from it. Don’t be so quick to throw shade on people. Take a step back, accept that we are all on our own journey, and be a little less critical,” she said, US Magazine reported.

Garner, on the other hand, is reportedly worried only about Affleck’s sobriety, and how it affects their kids. A source told People that she had been hoping to finalize her divorce with him soon but struggled with questions like “Is Ben healthy enough to have custody? Can she rely on him to co-parent?”
