Turkey Hill Ice Cream Recall 2013: Premium Ice Cream Treats Recalled For Metal Shavings [FULL LIST]

Turkey Hill recently found an extra special ingredient in specific packages of its premium ice-cream products: metal shavings.

Turkey Hill Diary announced a voluntary recall for three premium ice-cream treats after a potential contamination of metal shavings was found in certain products last week. According to a press release from the Lancaster County, Pa., company Friday, the 1.5-quart packages of Fudge Ripple Premium Ice Cream and one-pint packages of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Premium Ice Cream and Moose Tracks Stuff’d Frozen Dairy Dessert are included in the recall.

According to the company’s statement, there have been no reports of injuries from the contamination. All defective products were sold after Oct. 1. The affected products were reportedly sold at Turkey Hill Minit Markets in Pennsylvania, Wal-Marts in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and other unnamed grocery locations in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

On Turkey Hill Dairy’s official Facebook page Saturday, one customer claimed to have found a plastic shard inside a container of ice cream not included in the press release. “Extremely disappointed in Turkey Hill Dairy tonight! After driving to four different locations to find Pennsylvania Dutch Snyders pretzel flavor, I bought it, got it home, sat down with a bowl and what do I find??? A one inch shard of white plastic with black lettering!!!” wrote Pennsylvanian Scott Rineer alongside a photo of his find. “Turkey Hill Dairy needs to add this flavor to its recall!!!” A spokesperson assured customers Sunday that the company is investigating.
