  • Social media users slammed Donald Trump for not conceding after Joe Biden’s electoral college victory
  • Netizens believe that Trump could have become more popular if he accepted defeat gracefully
  • Biden received a solid electoral majority win of 306 votes while Trump got 232 electoral votes

Members of the U.S. electoral college have affirmed Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election by giving him a solid electoral majority win of 306 votes. The latest development confirms that Biden will be the 46th president of the United States while Kamala Harris is officially the vice-president.

Social media users had a lot to say about the electoral win and called out Donald Trump for not choosing to lose the election graciously. One of the users labeled Trump as “captain chaos” and said that the victory meant “freedom from tyranny” for the people of America.

“Looks like the U.S. is beginning to defeat 2 viruses today – coronavirus and captain chaos. Thank god and good riddance to both!! Long live democracy and freedom from tyranny,” @tonycrocker20 wrote on Twitter.

Another user said that Trump’s popularity could have soared if he would have conceded gracefully.

“To accept defeat with grace makes a politician more popular. Besides, holding the post of President of a country for four years in itself is a great achievement for which one should remain thankful to God,” @Pipalkoti wrote.

“Every time Trump loses, it’s almost just as good as the first. I think, he’s lost 65 or 66 times now,” another user stated.

“Defeated by the voters, defeated by the courts, defeated by the electoral college, this is so over for the narcissistic sociopath and his enablers. Better days ahead,” @StevenBeschloss wrote.

“@realDonaldTrump when you scored 306 Electoral College votes, you called it a landslide. Guess history is repeating itself. It’s now time for a real leader to concede with civility. Not holding my breath,” @Catcar53.

"@realDonaldTrump you are neither needed nor wanted for a second term. The Electoral College has also spoken! That makes you a one term president. Goodbye," @chiza66 wrote.

After winning the electoral college, Biden said that “democracy prevailed” in this battle for the soul of America.

“We the people voted. Faith in our institutions held. The integrity of our elections remains intact. And so, now it is time to turn the page. To unite. To heal,” Associated Press quoted Biden, as saying.
