Twitter Reacts After Prince Harry Was Named Commissioner Against Misinformation Following Oprah Interview

Prince Harry landed a new job in less than two days after being named as the first chief impact officer of BetterUp, and the announcement received mixed responses on Twitter.

The Duke of Sussex joined the Aspen Institute's fight against misinformation as one of its new commissioners for the Commission on Information Disorder. However, several Twitter users seemingly disapproved of it because they felt that he was not appropriate for the position after his and Meghan Markle’s "misinformed" interview with Oprah Winfrey, so the new position is ironic. One even accused the Duchess of Sussex of being “the world’s leader in misinformation.”

"Total PARADOX. Him making misinformation interview.....getting a job that fights against misinformation," one commented with laughing emoji.

"He just misinformed everyone about his wedding?!" a second user added.

"You can’t make this stuff up.....do they even know his record of misinformation? He is a prime example of information disorder, a case study," another wrote.

"Gosh! Harry, how can I put this gently to you without hurting your feelings, your first action will be against your own wife regarding misinformation. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones," a fourth netizen added.

"This is a joke, right? What about the misinformation harry and meghan spewed in the Oprah interview which your news organization also disseminated without fact checking. Both @CNN and Harry and Meghan need to clean up their own houses before anything else. Ludicrous," a fifth wrote.

Despite the backlash, many were also happy for Prince Harry's new position. For them, he is perfect for the role.

"Congratulations Prince Harry,. Well Deserved. Keep Stacking Up," another fan added.

"Go Harry, the haters will hate no matter what Harry and Meghan do because they have to in order to prop up a certain other royal couple," a third netizen wrote.

"Get it Done! Get it done Prince Harry. Something has to be done! Enough is enough!" a fourth user added.

"Great coup, Harry is very knowledgeable on this and has lived experience, they also did some research and worked with professionals on this, I remember when they were talking to companies about advertising," a different supporter agreed.

Prince Harry and Markle mentioned during the tell-all that they secretly got married three days before their royal wedding. The revelation was questioned by many if it was an actual wedding and the royal couple later retracted their statement saying they just exchanged vows and their official wedding was on May 19, 2018, and this prompted some Twitter users to call them "liars."
