Josh Duggar smiled in his mugshot, and the netizens couldn't help but comment on his bizarre gesture.
The "19 Kids and Counting" alum was found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography materials after a months-long trial. The jury reached the guilty verdict Thursday in Arkansas. Following his conviction, Duggar was taken into police custody, where he posed for a new mugshot. He was seen smiling in the photo, and this did not sit well with many netizens.
"Josh Duggar smiling in his mugshot after being convicted of possessing and selling child pornography. Wow. Just wow," one netizen tweeted.
"Cries in the courtroom and smiles for the booking photo? Come on, dude," a different user added.
"Creep," another commented.
Some also slammed Duggar and called him a sociopath and a psychopath. Another netizen called him a narcissist, and a different user said he was disgusting. Another Twitter user speculated that maybe Duggar was smiling because "he still thinks his dad can fix this."
"That’s a sadistic sociopath for ya," one wrote.
"POS Josh Duggar is also guilty of smiling for his arrest mug shot. It takes a really special person to do that and, IMHO, is an indicator of a psychopath with a side dish of narcissism," another added.
While some slammed Duggar, several just expressed their confusion over his facial expression. One wondered why he smirked to the camera, and another warned Duggar of his possible fate in prison.
"Idk what he has to smile about," another wrote wondering why Duggar grinned in the snap.
"Such a smug man. He should be afraid, prison doesn't like child molesters," a different user added.
The Duggar family has already released a statement regarding Josh's conviction. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar offered their love and support to Josh's wife, Anna Duggar, and their kids. The "19 Kids and Counting" patriarch and matriarch are not giving up when it comes to loving and supporting Josh saying, "As parents, we will never stop praying for Joshua, and loving him, as we do all of our children."
Meanwhile, Josh's sister, Jill Duggar, did not contest the jury's verdict and said, "We believe that the jury reached a just verdict today, consistent with the truth beyond a reasonable doubt." But Jill also said they are "sensitive" to Anna's pain.
"We stand with them, we are praying for them, and we will seek to support them however we can during this dark time," Jill concluded.
