Twitter Reacts To Kellyanne Conway Saying Internet Would Celebrate If She Was 'Shot And Killed'
Kellyanne Conway said Friday that if she were “shot and killed tomorrow, half of Twitter would explode in applause and excitement.” The counselor to President Donald Trump appeared on Fox & Friends to address the Wednesday morning shooting at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia, where GOP Representative Steve Scalise sustained a gunshot wound.

“As Steve Scalise was fighting for his life and crawling into right field in a trail of blood, you should go back and see what people were saying about the President and the Republicans at that very moment,” Conway said. “Look at Twitter. If I were shot and killed tomorrow, half of Twitter would explode in applause and excitement.”
Although Conway made several points while on the show, her claim that “half of Twitter would explode in applause and excitement” proved to be the most contentious. Twitter responded as follows:
TV writer Jordan Ross went in for the kill.
Brad Jaffy, NBC News senior news editor and writer, expressed confusion.
Writer/producer Hayden Black reacted.
Hilary Farr, host of HGTV's Love It or List It, spoke her mind.
Scalise, 51, was one of five wounded after a gunman — identified as 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson — began shooting at the baseball field Wednesday morning. He was in critical condition and had to undergo several surgeries after being shot in the hip. Two of the wounded were identified by House Speaker Paul Ryan as Crystal Griner and David Bailey, U.S. Capitol police officers. The other two shot were identified as Tyson Foods lobbyist Matt Mika and a staffer for Rep. Roger Williams, Zack Barth, according to Ryan.
As more information about the events surrounding the shooting were revealed, allegations surfaced that the shooter volunteered for Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. The new information led Sanders to release a statement to the Senate.
“I am sickened by this despicable act. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms,” he said. “Real change can only come about through nonviolent action and anything else runs counter to our most deeply held American values.”

When Conway appeared on Fox & Friends, she spoke about differing opinion on policy and how they can be harmful if not handled correctly, saying, “You can’t attack people personally, rather than on policy, and think tragedies like the Virginia shooting won’t happen.”
