The Golden State Warriors had a stellar 67-win season and are the 2017 NBA Champions. How can a winning team get any better? They added Nick Young, and of course, the internet went nuts.

During the offseason, the Warriors, tasked with retaining players that helped win the championship this year, also must strengthen their bench. The free agent shooting guard reportedly signed a one-year $5.2 million deal with the Warriors Wednesday, agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.

This deal may come as a surprise to most, as the Warriors have a slew of sharpshooters. The 32-year-old is apparently notorious for both his tendency to jack up shots as well as his antics on the basketball court. Young was made into one of the most side-splittingly funny NBA memes in 2014 when he prematurely celebrated a missed shot attempt during a game versus the New York Knicks.

But Wednesday, Twitter was buzzing with memes celebrating the newest Warriors player.

Rapper and NBA super-fan Lil B tweeted a congratulatory message regarding the Young deal. "Nba nick young to the warriors let's go NBA," he wrote.

Finals MVP Kevin Durant also welcomed his Warriors teammate via Twitter Wednesday. Durant tweeted the GIF of Young missing his three-point attempt. But while the player poked fun at his newest teammate, Durant may have been the main reason that the Warriors were able to make the deal with Young.

The star forward opted to take only $25.9 million over 2 years, which is $9 million less than what he could have got with a max contract. This allowed the Warriors to be eligible for the mid-level exception under the salary cap to sign Young.

USA Today reporter Sam Amick suggested that Durant, among others, helped recruit Young to the team.

"As I mentioned on @957thegame, Kevin Durant was an active member of the Warriors' Nick Young recruitment bunch. Talked to him a lot," he wrote on Twitter.

FS1 Sports analyst Skipp Bayless tweeted in approval of the Young deal, noting that Warriors also added forward Omri Casspi Tuesday to bolster their bench.

"Must admit it: Nick Young will make a good Warrior. Fearless shooter. Will mature in Dubs culture. And added Caspi too? Rich get richer," he tweeted.

Though some may consider Young to have a colorful personality, he can be of value to the Warriors off the bench. The former Lakers guard averaged over 17 points a game during two of his 10 seasons in the league. After struggling during the 2015-2016 season, he started for his team in 60 of the 82 games and averaged 13.2 points per game. He shot 40.6 percent from the three-point line, his best percentage since 2010. Young also played scrappy defense, better than he has his whole career.
