Two Judges Shot Outside White Castle In Indianapolis
Indianapolis police on Wednesday responded to a shooting outside of a White Castle restaurant, where two southern Indiana judges were shot in the parking lot.
Clark County judges Bradley Jacobs and Andrew Adams were visiting Indianapolis, which is 100 miles north of Clark County, for a judicial conference.
Authorities rushed both judges to nearby hospitals to be treated for their wounds. The IMPD said Jacobs was in critical and stable condition, while Adams was in stable condition.
Both had been at downtown bars at about 3:30 a.m. before heading in the direction of the White Castle. An argument then broke out in the parking lot.
A police spokesperson said the case was "an isolated incident" from an argument with another person. While police are still investigating the shootings, there has been no evidence to suggest that the pair’s status as judges had to do with the shooting.
There have been no arrests.
In response to the shootings, courts in Clark County were closed Wednesday.
"Our local legal community is shocked by what took place. We are very concerned for their health and well-being. We all hope they have a full recovery," Clark County Bar Association President Anna Murray said in a statement
These were also the first in a string of shootings that occurred across Indianapolis on Wednesday morning. The next occurred in an apartment complex on the city’s west side, followed by a man and woman in a neighborhood on the city’s east side.
