- The project is part of show creator Jeff Davis’ new deal with MTV Entertainment Studios
“Teen Wolf” is officially coming back four years after the MTV show wrapped up its final season, and lead star Tyler Posey has revealed the reason why they are making a movie adaptation based on the supernatural teen drama.
The 29-year-old actor took to Instagram Friday to share a video clip explaining why “Teen Wolf” is returning with a movie.
The clip begins with the message, “A wolf howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack.” Online messages from fans asking for the show to come back are then flashed on the screen.
“We’ve heard your howls, and we’re howling back,” reads the message that pops up in response to the requests. The video then ends with a wolf with red eyes howling at a blue jeep, which was owned and driven by Dylan O’Brien’s Stiles Stilinski in the series.
Posey, who played lead character Scott McCall on “Teen Wolf,” shared the teaser on the same date the MTV series aired its final episode in 2017, after being on the air for six seasons starting in 2011.
Hours before the “Maid In Manhattan” star shared the clip online, Variety already exclusively broke the news that a “Teen Wolf” revival movie was in the works at Paramount Plus as part of a new deal show creator Jeff Davis signed with MTV Entertainment Studios.
Davis will be writing and executive producing the project, with sources telling the entertainment news outlet that they are eager to bring back the original cast members of the show. Based on Posey’s post, however, it’s clear that he is already part of the film.
The “Truth or Dare” actor has also seemingly dropped hints about the upcoming revival film when he started posting throwback photos from the set of the show in the run-up to Friday’s announcement, according to People.
On Monday, he uploaded a photo of himself with O’Brien, 30, and revealed in the caption that it was taken when they were filming the promotional materials for the very first season of the show.
His latest behind-the-scenes upload that he shared Thursday showed him preparing to film a scene with the clapperboard in front of him. Posey pointed out in the caption that the snap was taken on the day he first directed an episode for the show.
Aside from Posey and O’Brien, “Teen Wolf” also starred Crystal Reed, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Colton Haynes, Dylan Sprayberry, Shelley Hennig and JR Bourne, among others.
