Type 2 Diabetes: A Need For Lifestyle Modification
Diabetes is brought about by the high levels of glucose in the blood. The most common type would be the Type 2 diabetes. Put it this way, there is something wrong with how your body makes use of insulin. Insulin is a component capable of moving blood sugar into the cells throughout the body. Not only that, insulin is where the sugar is stored and used up for energy.
If you have Type 2 diabetes, your body is resisting the insulin. Your fat, liver and muscle cells are rejecting it. In return, it isn't absorbed in cells and is just piled up and letting you experience hyperglycemia. So who are at risk of getting the disease? It is usually the overweight, individuals aging 45 years and above, with a family history, high blood pressure, polycystic ovarian syndrome and people who have HDL cholesterol of less than 35mg/dl.
You need to take some action. You are required to change the current lifestyle you have. You have to change your eating habits, have some medication and pair it with exercise. You may begin by doing a 30 minute workout. It can consist of stretching, running or anything that makes you sweat.
Stop lazing around. Don't be a couch potato. Instead you can do some household chores. Make sure that you are increasing your activity as a whole. You can mop the floor; lift some objects and other things. Be creative. You can even go up and down the stairs or walk your dog around the neighborhood.
You can try walking. To make your walking fun, buy a pedometer. According to Stanford University researchers, the use of a pedometer can increase the motivation to do some physical work. Make it a point to do 10,000 steps in a day. Imagine that 10,000 steps is already equivalent to about five miles. If you want, have a walking buddy with you. What's great about having a walking buddy is that you won't feel tired. You'll be talking while walking. Also, your friend will also serve as a motivator.
These are just some things you can do. Make sure that you set realistic goals. You can try to lose a pound per week. That can happen. You just need to focus and be determined.
