Tyra Banks Wows In Iconic Britney Spears Ensembles On 'Dancing With The Stars'
Tyra Banks channeled Britney Spears on Monday night's episode of "Dancing with the Stars." The installment, which was a tribute to the pop star, saw the model donning two of the singer's iconic ensembles, including pigtail braids and a knotted white shirt.
Both of Banks' looks paid homage to two significant moments in Spears' career — one from her first single, "Baby One More Time," which the pop icon released in 1998 as the lead single off of her first album of the same name, and the other from her 2001 VMA performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U."
Banks flaunted her first look on Instagram. In the photo, she could be seen wearing her long hair in pigtail braids while holding light-colored pom-poms. Her ensemble also included a white knotted blouse paired with a grey cardigan, as well as a black miniskirt and thigh-high matching socks.
For her second look, the "America's Next Top Model" host took her creativity to the next level by donning a green-colored bralette with a glittery serpent applique on her garment. The ensemble was reminiscent of Spears' outfit at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, where she made a buzz for having a live snake draped over her shoulders.
According to a report from Page Six, Spears was aware that the show was dedicating an entire episode to her. The outlet also said that the program's "Britney Night" "couldn't have come at a more perfect time," considering the singer's recent major win in court.
Meanwhile, the special "DWTS" episode was also a historic one, as dancer Cheryl Burke and her partner, Cody Rigsby, had to perform Spears' 2007 hit "Gimme More" virtually after testing positive for COVID-19 last week. In an interview with People before the performance, the longtime "DWTS" pro said she's grateful to be able to stay in the competition after everything that has happened.
"I'm just really grateful that despite everything that's happened in the last several days, we've been able to pivot and stay in the competition virtually for this week," she told the outlet. "We've been given a really unique opportunity and challenge for Britney week and while it may seem like performing remotely has its advantages, I will say this is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do."
