The chief financial officer of food processing company Tyson Foods apologized to the company Monday after his recent arrest.

John R. Tyson, 32, the son of the company's chairman, was arrested in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Nov. 6 and was later charged with public intoxication and criminal trespassing. Tyson was found intoxicated and asleep in a random woman's bed around 2 a.m. local time.

Tyson apologized during a quarterly conference call and said he accepted responsibility for his actions.

"I'm embarrassed, and I want to let you know that I take full responsibility for my actions," Tyson said. "I just wanted you guys to hear this directly from me and to know that I'm committed to making sure this never happens again."

The woman who lives in the home Tyson entered had told police she found him asleep in her bed. She said she believes he got inside because she left her front door unlocked.

Police explained that during his arrest Tyson's breath smelled of alcohol and he was unable to verbally respond.

Tyson was appointed as CFO in late September. He also serves as executive vice president.

He joined the Tyson Foods team in 2019.

Tyson's great-grandfather John W. Tyson founded Tyson Foods in 1935.
