Tyson Foods Recalls 94,000 Pounds Of Ground Beef Due To Possible Presence Of Foreign Mirror-Like Material
Concerns over the possible presence of a foreign mirror-like material prompted the recall of more than 94,000 pounds of ground beef from several grocery chains and retailers on Thursday.
The products were produced on Nov. 2 at the Tyson Foods facility in Amarillo, Texas, and were sent to retailers throughout the state. KTRK-13, an ABC affiliate based in Houston, reports the affected products were sent to stores including H-E-B, Joe V's, Mi Tienda and Central Market.
The recall came after Tyson received multiple complaints from customers who said they found the "mirror-like" material in products they purchased from grocery stores.
The recalled products include:
- 10-lb. Chubs of Hill Country Fare 73% lean ground beef with a best before or freeze-by date of Nov. 25, 2022
- 5-lb. Chubs of Hill Country Fare 73% lean ground beef with a best before or freeze-by date of Nov. 25, 2022
- 5-lb. Chubs of H-E-B ground chuck 80% lean ground beef
All subjects for the recall also bear the establishment number "EST.245E" on the seam of the chub, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
Consumers are being asked to either throw away any potentially contaminated products or return them to the stores they purchased them from.
There have been no reports of injury or bad reactions due to the consumption of the products.
