After many months, many injuries and many delays, U2's 'Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark' finally had its official opening on broadway Tuesday night.
'Spider-man' is the most expensive musical in broadway history, costing over $70 million. The show was originally set to open on Feb. 18, 2010 but was work was suspended due to lack of funds. The new opening date was set for Dec. 21, 2010 but was once again pushed back, this time to Jan. 11, then Feb. 7 and then March 15. After almost a year and a half of delays, 'Spider-man' officially opened on browadway on June 14, 2011.
Founding director Julie Taymor was welcomed back with huge applause after the show on Tuesday night. Taymor was fired after all the delays and cast injuries.
Last week the show earned $1.2 million.
