UFC: Adrien Broner Laughs At Conor McGregor, Calls For Cody Garbrandt Fight
Former four-weight champion Adrien Broner laughed over the idea of fighting UFC star Conor McGregor and called out Dana White to make a Cody Garbrandt fight happen.
After the epic boxing showdown between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather back in 2017, several MMA fighters have started calling out pro boxing champs. And while it seems quite obvious that boxers really dominate MMA fighters inside the boxing ring, fight fans are still crazy about the said idea.
Broner, who has just retired from boxing, has been linked to McGregor in the past. Very much like Mayweather, Broner had a lot to say to the former UFC two-division king. During a brief talk with TMZ Sports last year, Broner went hard on McGregor and said that he would destroy the MMA star in a boxing match. The former boxing champ also noted that it will be best for McGregor to just “stay away” from boxing as boxers naturally “ fight better” than MMA fighters.
"If he want this work, I'ma f--k him up. But other than that, I want him to stay away from this," Broner said about McGregor in 2018.
Roughly a year after, the Broner vs. McGregor fight is now very unlikely to happen.
In fact, in a recent interview with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Broner and Showtime Networks CEO David Nevins addressed McGregor talks and said that “The Notorious” is “too easy” for the former boxing champ.
Although Broner didn’t say anything about McGregor this time, the way he laughed as Nevins spoke was already a good indication that he strongly agrees with the CEO’s claim.
“I think it’s too easy. I’m trying to get Adrien to match tougher guys. No easy fights,” Nevins said.
“We saw what happened the first time,” Nevins added.
In a different video, Broner was asked about Garbrandt, another former UFC champ who has been recently linked to his name. According to Broner, Garbrandt has to be his next opponent. He even emphasized that he will come out of retirement just to fight “No Love” and then he will retire once again.
“Tell him c’mon let’s make it,” Broner said about fighting Garbrandt.
“He need to be my next fight. I’ll come back. I’ll come out of retirement just to fight him and retire again,” Broner vowed.
To prove that he’s open to fight Garbrandt, Broner even called out UFC president White to make the fight happen.
“Hey Dana White, make it happen,” Broner said.
