China’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organization in JCK MMA is set to receive a massive boost from the sport's international community after it was announced that it had signed a multi-event agreement with the UFC to have their fights air via its "Fight Pass" platform.
“We’re thrilled to partner with JCK MMA. This partnership truly expands our global footprint as UFC Fight Pass now showcases live events in every major market all over the world. With a unique and dynamic format, our subscribers will want to catch all of the action,” said Crowley Sullivan, the vice president and general manager of UFC Fight Pass.
Since its establishment in 2020, JCK MMA has held 51 events and more than 340 individual bouts, which aimed to showcase the best fighters to come out of China.
The promotion’s format is similar to that of the United States-based Professional Fighters League (PFL) in that it both has a seasonal, tournament-style format.
JCK MMA kicked off the 2022 season with 38 athletes in each division–namely the flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight men’s divisions–all guaranteed to have five fights per season to determine the rankings.
Since then, the organization added the middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions for the men, while a women’s strawweight division was also instituted.
The winner of each division will be awarded a cash prize of CN¥1 million RMB ($150,000).
"It’s a historical moment for JCK MMA to be the first-ever Chinese promotion on UFC Fight Pass. This partnership showcases JCK in front of a global audience. We are proud to have JCK represent Chinese MMA on a world stage,” Joe QiaoBo, JCK MMA's director of internal development, stated.
UFC Academy athletes Shang Zhifa, E Yong, Zhu Khangjie, Cui Liucai, Jiniushiyue and Taiyilake are all set to take part in the 2022 edition of the event.
With how global the UFC Fight Pass platform has become, China’s up-and-coming get to showcase their talent to a worldwide audience while staying within their country, giving them a massive advantage in their growth as an MMA nation that has produced a UFC champion in the form of Zhang Weili.
The next JCK MMA event is set to stream live on UFC Fight Pass on Saturday, June 4 at 7:00 AM ET.
