UFC welterweight star Ben Askren slams Georges St-Pierre and Conor McGregor for doing the same “gig” and not fighting anybody.

After a record-breaking knockout loss to Jorge Masvidal, Askren realized that he has got to win some fights in order to get back on track. But Askren also knows that a fight with someone as big as “GSP” or McGregor would be the fastest way to become a legend in MMA. However, Askren doesn’t want to hear about it until St-Pierre and McGregor finally decides to come out.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Askren blasted both St-Pierre and McGregor for not agreeing to fight anybody who has called them out. According to the former ONE Championship star, St-Pierre is the “GOAT” but if he has to make a decision whether he’s gonna fight or not.

“I just don’t like it. Its just like ‘Dude are you gonna fight or you’re not gonna fight?.’ If you’re not gonna fight, cool. That’s fine. You were the greatest of all time. If you’re gonna fight, hey let’s get you in here. Let’s see you fight a few people,” Askren said about St-Pierre.

As for McGregor, Askren thinks that St-Pierre and “The Notorious” are doing the same “gig” at this point. He emphasized that being linked to interesting fights are cool for a moment but if nothing is happening, he might as well not hear about it.

“It’s kind of same gig that Conor is pulling right now, everytime he calls out somebody, but we haven’t seen him in the cage. It’s cool for a little bit but now you’ve been doing the same thing over and over and over…we don’t wanna hear it anymore,” Askren exclaimed.

After all, Askren still acknowledges the legacy of St-Pierre. As per the welterweight star, even if St-Pierre doesn’t have a belt, a win over him makes anybody a legend.

“GSP might not have the belt but you beat GSP, you’re a legend,” Askren admitted.

Askren will face Brazilian Jiu-jitsu legend Demian Maia at UFC on ESPN+ 20 next week in Singapore. Ahead of the fight, the American wrestler already revealed some of the strategies he will use against a tremendous grappler like Maia.

“I’m not gonna go out there and do dumb stuff to take Demian down, like, real risky stuff. But I will go for the takedowns, and I am very comfortable on the ground. I actually brought in a really high-level grappler for my training camp, ” Askren revealed.
