  • Jon Jones recently tweeted that he's open to a rematch against Dominick Reyes if the rewards are worth the risk

The success of UFC 249 has spurred the possibility of more matches in the near future. One of the anticipated fights is the rematch between Jon Bones Jones and Dominick Reyes.

The first meeting between Jones and Reyes was met with much controversy on the decision of the match. The UFC 247 main event extended to five long rounds with both competitors exchanging blows to one another. While Jones was declared the winner of the match, many fans and followers of the fight thought Reyes should have left with the belt.

One of the more controversial aspects of their first encounter featured a scorecard that had Jones winning via a unanimous decision. The 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 score left people scratching their heads considering Reyes seemingly dominated the first three rounds of the fight.

With the resumption of the action in the octagon, Jones took to Twitter to express his openness to a rematch on the controversial bout. But he also mentioned that there must be conditions met during this unique predicament.

In one tweet directed to the Jones about a rematch, the light heavyweight champion quote tweeted and responded by his willingness to another fight.

“I’d love to fight him again. I’m just waiting for the UFC to make the reward worth the risk. Unless the organization treat it like a super fight, I might as well stay on schedule fighting the next guy in line,” Jones tweeted.

While Dana White’s team was successfully able to pull off the recently concluded UFC fight card, there are still a lot of factors to consider.

Having a rematch of Jones and Reyes may be a crowd favorite but the possibility of it happening will entail a higher cost for the UFC.

A second bout between Jones and Reyes will likely steal the show based on how the first fight turned out. Despite the controversy, Jones and Reyes were able to put on a fighting exhibition.

It highlighted how Reyes was a formidable opponent despite the loss as 14 out of the 21 media outlets had the Devastator beating Jones.

It would be interesting to see if these two fighters can settle the score with a much-awaited rematch.
