Stipe Miocic is looking forward to his rematch with Daniel Cormier where he is looking to avenge his loss at UFC 226 last year. He fell via knockout in the very first round, losing the heavyweight title. Given that scenario, it comes to no surprise that he enters UFC 241 as the underdog slated for August 17.

That previous loss snapped Miocic's six-fight win streak. However, the 36-year-old mixed martial artist is pretty confident that he can get back on track and pull off a win against Cormier. Should he be successful, it remains to be seen if a trilogy fight with DC is next. If not, a logical target would be Jon Jones who has discussed the possibility of moving up to heavyweight.

"I'm going to win," said Miocic said to TMZ Sports when asked about his rematch with Cormier this coming weekend. With brimming confidence, it comes to no surprise he was asked on possibly facing Bones next. Regardless, he is focused on finishing business with Cormier first and think of his next match afterward.

The thing with slight favorite Cormier is that he has repeatedly mentioned the possibility of retiring. And while his appetite inside the cage seems to be dwindling, he too has been hounded by a possible third clash with Jones. As covered in a previous post, it appears that such has hindered him from peacefully retiring from UFC action.

“I think at this point in my career and my life, if you ask me these questions three years ago in 2015 after I lost to him the first time, I’d get all kinds of fired up about everything Jon Jones. Now I’m at a different time in my life,” said Cormier in a report from MMAfighting.com.

Whatever happens at UFC 241, pundits are expected to throw plenty of questions on the victor on possibly facing Jones next. Cormier may be considering it while Miocic could be game as well. Either way, Jones will have his share of the spotlight at the post-fight - regardless if Bones is there at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
