The spotlight has now turned to Francis Ngannou after he dismantled Stipe Miocic at UFC 260 and become the heavyweight champion.

With an handful of aspiring title contenders lined up to get a shot at Ngannou, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has been expressing a strong desire to face “The Predator.”

Ngannou has proven that he is an extremely dangerous fighter, having knocked out all of his last five opponents in the early rounds. Hence, speculations that Jones might cower away has become a hot subject in a recent edition of the “D.C. and Helwani” podcast on ESPN.

But according to former UFC two-division titleholder Daniel Cormier, who had shared the Octagon with Jones twice, his former nemesis is “not afraid” of Ngannou.

Moreso, Cormier even thinks “Bones” is by far the only fighter who can outperform the vicious knockout artist.

“Jon Jones, for everything that is between us, is not afraid of Francis Ngannou,” Cormier pointed out. “This is absurd that people think that.”

“Jon Jones is one of the most talented guys I have seen inside the Octagon and if you have to find someone who can piece together a way to solve the Francis Ngannou puzzle, it is Jon Jones,” he added.

It didn’t take long for UFC president Dana White to addressed the situation and emphasized that if Jones really want the fight, all he has to do is make a “call.”

"If I'm Jon Jones and I'm home watching this fight, I start thinking of moving to 185 [middleweight]," White jockingly said in the post-fight conference. "I like it. "That sounds serious then, Jon [Jones]. Call Hunter right now. We can make that fight right now, Jon. Call Hunter right now."

“Derrick Lewis is the fight to make,” the UFC boss explained. “But if Jon Jones really wants that fight…Listen, it is one thing to go out and tweet and say you want it and that I put on the weight and this and that. Do you want the fight?"

“I promise you, we can call Derrick Lewis or one of these other heavyweights and they want the fight. If Jon Jones really wants the fight, Jon Jones knows he can get the fight. All he’s got to do is call and do it.”
