It hardly comes as a surprise that each time Daniel Cormier or Jon Jones steps into the cage, a third match between the two is thrown into the picture. Both do have a history and each time, the tables have been turned on Bones due to some issues. Having experienced all that, DC wonders if something twisted happens once again.

Up ahead, Cormier will be facing Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 in what could be the 40-year-old's last UFC fight. Having accomplished a lot in his career, there is no question that the reigning heavyweight world champion has done practically everything a mixed martial artist has dreamt of. However, one thing that could haunt him even if he does retire is a fella named Jon Jones.

“I think at this point in my career and my life, if you ask me these questions three years ago in 2015 after I lost to him the first time, I’d get all kinds of fired up about everything Jon Jones. Now I’m at a different time in my life,” said Cormier in a report from MMAfighting.com.

In all, Cormier believes he does not need to prove anything. More so, he says he does not need a fight with Jones and believes he will be fine. At the end of the day, he reiterates that it will be his decision to make. But somehow, the thought of Jones remains as well as repercussions that could be tied to it. At UFC 182, Jones won via unanimous decision but would later on be stripped of it for a hit-and-run incident. But even before that, there were already failed drug tests that tainted Bones' victory.

The second meeting saw Jones winning once more although the decision was overturned after Bones tested positive for steroids. Now, Cormier is wondering if it would be déjà vu should a third fight happen. UFC president Dana White is interested in doing one, something he mentioned in a sit-down interview with Laura Sanko.

"My place is secure with no question marks, no issues in regards in what I’ve done. It would ultimately be up to me to see what I want to do,” said Cormier.

Before getting ahead of things, Cormier needs to worry about Miocic first. It will be a rematch between the two after they faced each other at UFC 226 back in July 2018. Should Cormier come out victorious once again, expect the name of Jones come rumbling through at the post-fight presser.
