  • Nate Diaz is allegedly set to face Jake Paul after the Tommy Fury bout in December
  • Josh Thompson says Diaz wants to earn a much bigger payday elsewhere
  • Diaz is believed to be down to his last fight in his current UFC deal

Nate Diaz made headlines recently since he is reportedly down to his last fight in the UFC.

But it appears there is something tied to that, with claims that the same man who dealt Conor McGregor his first loss in the UFC is out to replicate that feat against YouTuber Jake Paul.

Former MMA fighter and commentator Josh Thomson stressed that Diaz has plans to face Paul and that this will happen after the 24-year-old’s scheduled boxing match with Tommy Fury in December.

Thompson mentioned this when he appeared on the "Weighing In" podcast.

But before that can happen, the 36-year-old needs to formally end his UFC contract. No names have been mentioned, but Thomson bared that Diaz just wants to get it over with and then take the next big step in his career, knowing that the Stockton native stands to earn big money in some other capacity.

"He's just trying to get a fight to get out the door, he's done with MMA. He knows that fight is going to make him double then he'd make [against Conor McGregor]," Thomson explained.

Paul has been making big money facing athletes from other sports. That includes MMA fighters like Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

However, the younger brother of boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will be a true test for the internet sensation.

It will be the first time Paul will face a legitimate boxer, and Fury has no plans of relaxing against the influencer-turned-pugilist. Much of this was covered in a previous post.

Assuming that Paul is dealt his first boxing career loss, odds may be against Diaz.
