To emphasize unity with Ukraine, United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has flown into Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Today I met my friend President @ZelenskyyUa in Kyiv as a show of our unwavering support for the people of Ukraine,″ Johnson said in a Twitter post. “We’re setting out a new package of financial & military aid which is a testament of our commitment to his country’s struggle against Russia’s barbaric campaign.″
According to the BBC, the British government has agreed to send 120 reinforced vehicles and other resources to assist Ukraine. “Ukraine has defied the odds and pushed back Russian forces from the gates of Kyiv," Johnson said, while also praising Zelensky’s “heroism” and “courage.”
"The Ukrainians have the courage of a lion," Johnson added in a tweet.
Along with Johnson, Austrian chancellor Karl Nehammer has also flown into Ukraine to show his support of Ukraine “on a humanitarian level as well as politically." According to Reuters, Austria has been providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine along with defense resources such as helmets and body armor.
Velenskyy has also reached out to Qatar to increase the country’s production of natural gas and energy exports to neutralize the deprivation of Russian resources in the midst of sanctions as a result of the war.
“They can do much to restore justice. The future of Europe depends on your effort,” Zelenskyy said in a surprise virtual appearance at Qatar’s Doha Forum.
