Unborn Baby Survives After Eight-Month-Pregnant Mother Shot To Death
An eight-month-pregnant woman was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Ohio. Doctors were able to successfully cut her baby boy out of the womb alive.
Police were called to the 2400 block of Reading Road, Walnut Hills at around 12:28 p.m. EST following the shooting. The victim, identified as Dominique Lee, 28, was taken to Christ Hospital, where an emergency C-section was performed before she breathed her last, Fox 19 reported.
Lee was the mother of a 3-year-old girl. “My sister was an amazing, loving person,” Lee’s unidentified sister, told the publication. “She loved her daughter with all her heart. She was truly a good person. Never was a troublemaker, just always stayed to herself and handled her business. She didn’t deserve this. All my family is truly devastated.”
Lee was reportedly not the intended target of the shooting but merely an innocent bystander. A man who accompanied Lee was allegedly the target but he escaped unharmed.
“By killing Dominique, they hurt a lot of people in her family who loved her,” Brenda Burt, Lee’s grandmother, told WLWT. “Now, we got to explain to a daughter and her son why they don’t have a mother.”
Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. Police didn’t yet identify any suspect.
Another pregnant mother, Annie Sandifer, was fatally shot in Milwaukee on Saturday. The 35-year-old mother of five was aboard a party bus in front of the venue when the suspect fired multiple shots, killing her. The doctors were able to deliver her baby, 26 weeks premature, through C-section. The child was in stable condition.
