‘Under The Dome’ Season 3 Spoilers: 7 Things To Know About CBS Drama Before June 25 Premiere
Brace yourselves, TV-lovers, because another chaotic season of “Under the Dome” is about to grace our small screens. And according to the cast of the hit CBS supernatural thriller, Season 3 is going to be pretty intense -- not to mention shocking. (But hey, we could have guessed that!)
“I just have to go with unexpected,” Rachel Lefevre, who plays Julia on the nail-biting drama, described the upcoming installment to Entertainment Weekly.
And from what we’ve heard thus far about the new season, which is set to premiere on Thursday, that adjective seems to be quite fitting. Check out everything you should know about the wild third installment of “Under the Dome” below:
1. Double The Drama
“Under the Dome” will return to CBS with twice the chaos with a two-hour premiere starting at 9 p.m. EDT.
2. Premiere Synopsis
According to the summary for episode 1, “Move On,” and episode 2, “But I’m Not,” viewers should anticipate for the residents of Chester’s Mill to be divided as some are freed from the dome and others are left behind.
“As the Dome begins to reveal its ultimate agenda, the townspeople are forced to question what and who they can trust as fresh threats appear," the synopsis states.
3. Friends Or Foes?
The premiere summary adds that “surprising alliances” will form during episodes 1 and 2 of “Under the Dome" Season 3. But who will be joining forces? According to the show’s executive producer Neal Baer, Big Jim (Dean Norris) and Julia (Lefevre) will have to work together if they want to survive another season trapped in the mysterious dome.
“Julia and Big Jim become -- I wouldn’t say bosom buddies, but they certainly become allies against everyone,” the showrunner revealed to TV Guide. “They unite against the enemy within. That’s the theme of this season… struggling to live under the Dome and fight the enemy within. And it’s not Big Jim.”
4. Questions Will Be Answered
“Under the Dome” has left viewers scratching their heads for quite some time now. But Baer promised audiences during the CBS summer press event in May that fans won’t be left in the dark much longer.
“We will tell you why the Dome came down and what it’s about,” Baer said. “By the end of the season, you’ll know exactly why this happened the way that it happened.”
5. New Characters Revealed
New residents will emerge in the two-hour premiere of “Under the Dome” -- one of them being a character named Christine Price. Christine is an anthropologist, played by Marg Helgenberger from “CSI.” TVLine revealed she’ll become a vital character in figuring out the mystery behind the Dome.
“[She’s a] new resident of Chester’s Mill, and yet [she’s] been there this whole time,” Baer said during the CBS press event. “That’s the driving engine of this season: How is that even possible?”
6. More Questions Will Arise
Although Season 3 will answer some of our burning questions, it will also manage to leave viewers craving more as new twists are unveiled. “We’ve taken the viewers through all kinds of calamities. But now, it’s really character-orientated. We promise you we will answer why the dome is there, but of course we’re going to ask more questions,” Baer stated during the CBS summer press event.
7. Barbie/Julie Drama
Barbie (Mike Vogel) assured Julie in the Season 2 finale that he would come back for his beau after she was unable to escape the Dome with him. And in the promo video below, he keeps his promise -- but is it too late?:
“Under the Dome” will air its Season 3 premiere on Thursday, June 25, at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
