Two penguins taking shelter under a sushi bar in New Zealand on Saturday were taken away by police after a call from the owner.

The food truck they lived under was near the major Wellington Railway Station, New Zealand's busiest terminal.

Constable John Zhu later took the "waddling vagrants" out of their adopted home and released them into the harbor. The penguins then returned back to the exact spot, where they had to be removed again.

During this time of the year, the penguins often find a spot on land to lay eggs. The sushi truck might have served as protection from predators.

The New Zealand Department of Conservation had been monitoring the penguins and warned customers that the penguins could bite humans.

The little penguin is the smallest species of penguin and is native to New Zealand and Australia. They are also the only type of penguins in the world that have blue and white feathers instead of black and white feathers.

The penguins typically eat sardines and anchovies. They are also mostly nocturnal creatures.

They generally spend 80% of their lives in the sea or foraging for food, but go back to the shore to breed and build nests. Orcas, seals and sharks are some of the penguin's predators at sea, while dogs, cats and foxes might be interested in the penguins as a snack on land.

There are around 600 blue penguins in Wellington Harbor, but their conversation status is at risk due to warming waters as a result of climate change.
