ABC News will broadcast a series of interviews with Jacqueline Kennedy, that were never released before on a one-hour 20/20 special with Diane Sawyer in September.

The interviews will be put in context by historians and her own daughter, Caroline Kennedy.

Although Jacqueline chose not to speak publicly about the presidency of John F. Kennedy, she did a series of recorded interviews with historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. four months after the death of her husband for more than 8 hours. The interview recordings, which include her testimonies about the late President, her family, and the epoch incidents, have never been released to the world.

The 20/20 special will coincide with the release of Caroline's new book titled, Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy, which includes the original audio recordings.

It is a great privilege to be able to share these recollections with the millions of people who admire my parents. My mother took very seriously the obligation to preserve and document the history of my father's administration--and these interviews are the result. I am honored to play a small part in that effort by bringing them forward in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy administration, ABC News quoted Caroline as saying.

Although Jacqueline passed away in 1994, she is still considered an American icon, not only during the 1960s, to the world and is remembered for her style, grace, elegance, glamor and her contributions to the arts and architecture.

The release of the Jacqueline Kennedy interviews on ABC network will attract those who wish to learn more about the Kennedy family.
