United Airlines is buying a record 270 planes from Boeing as part of their post-COVID plan.

Airlines were among the worst-hit victims of the pandemic, with workers on furlough and government loans needed to keep the industry afloat. With the pandemic winding down, airlines are preparing to take flight yet again.

Domestic travel has climbed as more Americans have received their vaccine.

United is planning to spend billions in order to attract tourists to places like New York and San Francisco. In order to become more competitive and attract higher-paying tourists, the airline is planning to have roomier seating, televisions, and improved storage for carry-on bags for all passengers. United is expected to hire 25,000 new employees consisting of piolets, flight attendants, and mechanics.

Factoring in the planes the company previously ordered they will have over 500 planes in their fleet over the next few years. They also expect to replace older planes, this would allow United to expand their fleet and allow for more departures.
