A football player from the University of Utah was recently arrested on Thursday after being accused of kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl.

The victim told police she met Terrell Perriman, a 20-year-old wide receiver on Instagram, and they connected on Snapchat as well. She went on to say Perriman sent her sexually graphic videos and photos and asked for the same.

She then went to his apartment on Friday. He took her into the bedroom and refused to let her leave unless she performed oral sex on him. The girl told authorities she was afraid after seeing that Perriman had a taser.

She told him she did not want to have sexual contact with him and that she was only 17. Perriman allegedly blocked the door, took her phone, and then covered her mouth to mute her screams.

The probable cause statement claimed the suspect caught her attempting to leave and then physically forced her back into the room.

The girl stated Perriman took down his pants and forced her out of her shorts before he raped her. He was arrested on counts of enticing a minor via text or internet, kidnapping and suspected rape. He is yet to be charged, though.

Detective Greg Wilking stated the police have some indication there may be other victims and have urged them to come forward.

He reiterated that in these kinds of cases, there is not just one victim, but it is a behavior that is repeated, so there are bound to be other encounters, provided it is true.

The Salt Lake City detective clarified, however, investigations are yet to verify that Perriman was targeting underage girls. The girl in this scenario just happened to be a minor.

It is also not particularly evident how long the girl was held against her will and when she broke away from Perriman.

The University football coach, Kyle Whittingham, released a statement indicating he is aware of the allegations, and he added that Perriman had been immediately suspended from the team pending the outcome of the investigations.

The University of Utah mandates that all students take online training modules concerning sexual assault upon enrolling. The athletes have to participate within training on an annual basis additionally.

The University President, Ruth Watkins, also tweeted her thoughts, encouraging the students to reach out to the available campus resources if possible, including the counselor, if they had any problems. She also illustrated her solidarity with the victim, saying there is no place for sexual violence in the community.
