While fans have been anxiously awaiting the release of “UnREAL” Season 4, behind the scenes, cast members weren’t sure if the final episodes of the Lifetime series would ever see the light of day after cancellation. However, on Monday, stars Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby were happy to learn about the release of the final season.

The series follows the lives of the cast and crew on a fictional dating series called “Everlasting,” loosely based on the reality series “The Bachelor.” Zimmer plays an executive producer on the series named Quinn, while Appleby plays Rachel, a producer tasked with creating drama among the contestants.

After three seasons on Lifetime, the stars weren’t sure if the last season would air but got their answers when they learned “UnREAL” Season 4 would stream on Hulu a little more than a month before its release. “My first reaction was, ‘Oh my God, that’s the most amazing news I’ve ever heard!’” Zimmer told Entertainment Weekly.

“We were so worried that everyone was going to have to wait another year to see season 4, which just feels so cruel. But then I was a little sad because, you know, this has been Lifetime’s baby, and I feel like we had such a great run. It would’ve been nice to see it end there, but I get it, and I appreciate that what they were more concerned about were the fans,” she explained.

The final eight episodes of the series returns to the set of “Everlasting” with a twist. This time around, Rachel is the suitress and the contestants are made up of both men and women who have appeared on past seasons.

In order to avoid elimination, the contestants must pair off in order to make it to the next episode in this “All Star” version of the show.

Appleby revealed she felt “incredibly lucky,” about the release of the episodes even though it wasn’t on the network that “UnREAL” first premiered on.

“We just feel incredibly grateful that [Hulu] came in and helped us give the fans what they’ve been asking for. It just feels like a cherry on top of the entire experience, to be working with them and have them be our home for the end,” she told the publication.

On Twitter, Zimmer shared her excitement about the release of the finale episodes. “ALL 8 episodes of #season4 #unrealtv JUST DROPPED ON @hulu TODAY! B O O M! Told you we had your back!”

Meanwhile, Appleby took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post saying goodbye to her character and thanking fans for supporting the series. “Rachel Goldberg, playing you has been a career highlight for me. Thank you to all the fans for watching and joining us on this UnReal journey,” she wrote along with photos of herself on set.

The final eight episodes of “UnREAL” Season 4 are available on Hulu.
