US Open Tennis 2012: Watch Live Stream Online of Djokovic, Roddick and Sharapova in Tuesday’s Action; Preview

Preview: The weather looks to be the only thing that can prevent an enticing lineup of tennis on day nine's play at the US Open. The schedule is currently set to go ahead as planned, despite rain predicted throughout the day.

Tennis fans will be hoping that the forecasters have got it wrong with the first two women's quarterfinal set to take place as well as the remaining men's fourth round clashes.

Up first on Arthur Ashe stadium is an intriguing last eight match-up between world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka and defending champions Samantha Stosur. While the Australian has won 11 straight matches on the courts at Flushing Meadows, Azarenka's record in head-to-heads means that she will start as a clear favorite. The pair has met six times with Azarenka winning on each occasion in straight sets. In the last for encounters Stosur has not even managed to win four games in a set.

It is an ignominious record that means that Stosur will have to summon up all the confidence from her recent US Open record to have a shot against the Belarusian. Azarenka looks to be firing on all cylinders so far in New York, though, winning her opening four matches for the loss of just 10 games.

It is a similarly one-sided head-to-head record that exists between the two competitors in the second of the women's quarterfinals. Maria Sharapova has won all four of the previous encounters with her opponent on Tuesday, Marion Bartoli, in straight sets. The French 11th seed should be on a high, though, following victory over fifth seed Petra Kvitova to reach the last eight at the US Open for the first time.

Some intriguing matches also loom in the men's fourth round. The highlight promises to be Andy Roddick's attempts to postpone his retirement against former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro. The American is sure to once again enjoy fervent support on Arthur Ashe, but faces an uphill task against an in-form Del Portro. After enduring a cruel run of injuries, the Argentinian looks to be approaching the level of tennis that saw him produce a stunning victory in New York back in 2009.

The victor in that match will face the winner of another of the day's fourth round encounters as defending champion Novak Djokovic takes on Stanislas Wawrinka. The world No.2 has won the last nine meetings with his Swiss opponent and will be expected to progress without undue difficulty.

The rest of the day's singles' action sees a potentially absorbing contest between talented Frenchman Richard Gasquet and the relentless David Ferrer, before Serbian eight seed Janko Tipsarevic faces off with John Isner's conqueror, Philipp Kohlschreiber.
