‘This Is Us’ Season 1 Spoilers: What Will Happen In Episode 7? Producer Ken Olin, Photos Tease ‘Big Secret’ To Be Revealed
“This is Us” has been a rollercoaster ride for viewers since it premiered in September. The NBC show has revealed a number of major secrets — including the family ties between the cast — and it looks like there’s more to come in Season 1.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, producer Ken Olin opened up about episode 7. During the show, titled “The Best Washing Machine in the Whole World,” each character will finally face some of the things they’ve been running from since the series kicked off. Olin told the publication that “This is Us” has been setting up for confrontation between Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin (Justin Hartley), as well as Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan), since the beginning.
While those moments will play a large part in the makeup of the episode, it’s Randall’s wife Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) who will have the biggest moment of the night as she explores her relationship with her husband’s biological father. Olin said Beth and William (Ron Cephas Jones) will “interact in some great ways, in some ways that aren’t expected.” Additionally, Randall’s wife will be privy to a major secret William’s been harboring since he was introduced to “This is Us” in episode 2.
“That becomes something which sets up the next few episodes,” Olin teased. “Beth learns some things that are going to eventually dramatically change a lot of the dynamics for the family.”
Photos for the episode support Olin’s comments, showing Beth and William bonding while Randall spends time with Kevin. It also seems viewers should be prepared to learn more about the relationship between Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). Stills also show Kate and Toby bonding, though it seems her struggles with her weight and getting comfortable in her body will continue to be a factor — will it come between her and her new beau?
Check out more photos from the episode and be sure to catch “This is Us” Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
