Is ‘This Is Us’ On Tonight? Season 3 Goes On Another Hiatus
UPDATE: 7 p.m. EST ― NBC has confirmed that “This Is Us” Season 3 will return on Tuesday, Feb. 12. This also shifts the season finale date to Tuesday, April 2.
Original story: It seems like “This Is Us” Season 3 just came back from winter break, but it is taking this week off because of President Trump’s State of the Union address. However, scheduling changes means fans might be waiting even longer to see what’s next for the Pearson family and their newly discovered family member, Nicky.
The State of the Union was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29, so NBC planned to take this week off. Despite the scheduling change, it looks like the drama is still on hiatus. Instead, a new episode of “Ellen’s Game of Games” will air in its usual 9 p.m. time slot.
“This Is Us” was set to return on Feb. 5, but the State of the Union has been moved to that time. NBC has not announced their plans for what will air next week, but it’s unlikely that NBC will air the SAG Award-winning drama. NBC will probably give the slot to Trump’s speech. After all, they have aired the President’s winter address for at least the last 25 years.
Though NBC has not confirmed “This Is Us” Season 3’s return date yet, it seems like Feb. 12 would be the show’s return date. This article will be updated when NBC makes an official decision.
The hiatus comes in the middle of a two-part story. When “This Is Us” left off, the Big Three found Nicky (Griffin Dunne), their uncle who they thought died. Viewers learned that he had been killing fish with grenades during his time in Vietnam and had unintentionally killed a young boy. He never got to tell Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) that it wasn’t on purpose. The siblings revealed that Jack died several years ago.
Nicky asked his nephews and niece to leave, but they returned a short while later. They found him in his trailer with a gun. It seemed like he was ready to die by suicide.
In “Songbird Road: Part Two,” they’ll bring him home with them to help him. Kevin (Justin Hartley) will be focused on Nicky. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Kate (Chrissy Metz), meanwhile, will “reflect on differing memories of their childhood.”
