It was a surprisingly one-sided battle in terms of shots in the semifinals of the Women World Cup as France took 25 shots and the United States took only 11.

Too bad for the French that the game wasn't decided on shots, but on goals, as the United States trounced France, 3-1, to advance to the World Cup Finals on Sunday in Frankfurt and face Japan.

The U.S. was led by Lauren Cheney, Amy Wambach, and Alex Morgan, who took advantage of limited opportunities to get the U.S. on the board.

Hope Solo once again was excellent in the net, and made important saves to hold off France's attack, which was mainly relying on shots from distance. In the 31st minute, France hit the crossbar, which was a huge break for the Americans.
