Usher Breaks Silence After Son, Usher Raymond V, Is Hospitalized Following Pool Incident

Usher has broken his silence days after his oldest son Usher Raymond V was seriously injured in a pool accident at their home in Atlanta.

The 34-year-old singer thanked fans for their well wishes, his family, doctors, and the two men who rescued the 5-year-old. “I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being.

"I would like to thank my Aunt Rena as well as the doctors and nurses who are working with us around the clock. I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them. ”

According to TMZ, Usher Raymond V was taken to an Atlanta hospital Monday evening and was rushed to the ICU after an accident at the singer’s home. Usher V was with his aunt, Rena Oden, at his father’s mansion when he saw a toy in the drain while playing in the pool.

He swam to the drain to retrieve the toy, but his arm then got stuck in the drain. Oden aunt went down to help him but was not able to remove his hand. When the maid saw what was taking place, she too tried to rescue the boy, but to no avail. Usher was not home at the time.

The maid screamed, alerting two men who were working in Usher’s home. They were able to free Usher V before he received CPR and was taken to the hospital.

Since the incident, Usher’s ex-wife, Tameka Foster has filed for an emergency hearing, saying that Usher has created a dangerous environment for their two children. They have another son, Naviyd, 4.
