USPS Holiday Hours 2018: Delivery Schedule For Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve

As Christmas Eve is here, it is essential to know if the presents in the mail will reach loved ones on time. Missing the deadline for shipping the presents could mean a complete one day delay before shipping providers open their doors.

Many people stress about whether or not the post office or other shipping companies will be open when the final package needs to be sent or received on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Below are the nationally posted service and shipping schedules for major shipping companies.

United States Postal Service (USPS): The USPS wrote on its website that locations are open on Dec. 24, but may close early. USPS offices are closed on Christmas Day. Priority Mail Express will still be delivered on both days but regular mail will not be delivered Tuesday. All post office locations will be open and resume regular mail delivery on Wednesday, Dec. 26. The USPS will be closed and mail will not be delivered on New Year's Day.​

United Parcel Service (UPS and UPS Brown): UPS will be delivering packages on Christmas Eve. However, there will be a limited pickup service. UPS on-call pickup service and UPS Drop Boxes are available for Air and international Air packages. There will be no pickup or delivery services on Christmas Day, except for Express Critical. Only delivery and pickup service of UPS Air and international Air packages will be available on Christmas Eve. There is no UPS pickup or delivery service on New Year's Day. UPS Express Critical service is available New Year's Day.

FedEx: This shipping company will also be delivering packages on Christmas Eve. Some FedEx offices and services, however, will be closed or operating on limited hours on Dec. 24. Check the website for further details and specialized services. FedEx will shut down FedEx Ground, FedEx SmartPost, and FedEx Freight starting Dec. 29. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx SmartPost and FedEx Freight FedEx services are closed Dec. 30. FedEx Office closes by 6 p.m. Dec. 31. All delivery options will be closed on New Year's Day.
