‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: First Look at Human Katherine [PHOTO]
Fans of “The Vampire Diaries” need not wait until October to lay eyes on Mystic Falls newest human: Katherine Pierce! Director Joshua Butler took to Twitter Friday to tease viewers of the hit CW vampire drama with a special behind-the-scenes photograph from the coming fifth season.
“The Vampire Diaries” is set for its season premiere Oct. 3, and when it makes it, fans will be treated to some big changes. As many will remember, season four concluded with Silas revealing himself to be a doppelganger of Stefan, the group graduating from high school -- and Elena slipping Katherine the vampire cure.
Butler tweeted the following photo with the caption: “Katherine Pierce, brought to life by @NinaDobrev, in all her tragic #beauty. #DirectorPride #TVD 5x02.”
We’re not sure what’s going on with Katherine in the photo, but she does not look happy. In the past, Elena was the fragile one, but this season Katherine will find the tables turned. Executive producer Julie Plec revealed to TV Guide that Katherine will be “in need of protection much like the first Elena we met four years ago.” Unfortunately, she burned many bridges over the years as a vampire, and with Elena off at college, Katherine will have to seek protection “from unlikely sources.”
“She’s definitely going to find herself on the wrong end of a lot of vendettas,” Plec told TVLine in May.
It’s uncertain whether Katherine will be appearing in the season-five premiere, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” The first episode will find Matt and Rebekah in Prague with a new character named Nadia, Jeremy struggling with his new life and the secret death of Bonnie, and Caroline and Elena heading off to Whitmore College for their freshman year.
Katherine will definitely make an appearance in episode two, which is set to be shown Oct. 10. What do you think of the first look at Katherine? Do you think she will be getting into a lot of trouble this season? Let us know your thoughts on “The Vampire Diaries” in the comments section.
