‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 6 Rumors: Is Nina Dobrev Leaving? Fans React To Mysterious Instagram Captions
Nina Dobrev is the subject of the latest “Vampire Diaries” departure rumor. The 26-year-old star has been posting on social media about her vacation with the “TVD” cast and crew at a lake house in Atlanta, but some of her friends may have posted something they shouldn’t have.
Lauren Petzke, who does not work on “The Vampire Diaries” according to her IMDb page, posted a photo from the vacation with "#ninawewillmissyou" in the caption. She has since set her profile to private, but not before fans could capture the provocative hashtag.
Another vacationer wrote a caption, “lake life in honor of @michael_trevino and @ninadobrev,” according to a screen capture from SpoilerTV. Yet the caption has since been edited to say simply “#lakelife.” Now this could mean a number of things, but fans are worried that Dobrev will no longer play Elena Gilbert.
Rumors of a core cast member leaving have been circulating for some time. Last summer, E! Online reported that two of the main three stars (Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley) signed on for Season 7, but one actor wasn’t sure that he or she wanted to stay. Dobrev still hasn’t signed a contract, according to Spoiler TV. The site also reports she recently bought a house in Los Angeles, though “The Vampire Diaries” films in Atlanta.
While Dobrev has been playing Elena since the CW series began in 2009, her departure wouldn’t be too surprising. She has a burgeoning film career with appearances in last summer’s “Let’s Be Cops” and “The Final Girls,” which debuted at SXSW last month. She might want to focus on movies instead of television.
The Canadian actress’ departure is still unconfirmed. However, the rumors have “TVD” fans worried. They’ve posted about the possible departure on Twitter.
“The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 returns Thursday, April 16, on the CW. Will you keep watching if Elena isn’t on the show? Sound off in the comments section below!
